The Cast

The No Chancers (The Party).

1st Cadre, 1st Gear Recon Platoon, 1st Armoured Infantry Compagnie, 23rd Combined Arms Regimental Team

Lieutenant Krystos Agyra

The latest CO for the cadre. A recent winner of the HAPF Free MILICIA Tour Lottery. Fasitidous, and getting used to the MILICIA life. He’s shown a surprising willingness to bend the rules at times.

Promoted for handling the Badlands ambust and helping uncover the Nortern mole in SRID.

Caporal Jean-Pierre Janson JP portrait

Grumpy, but still charming, Jean-Pierre came to the cadre after several cycles of hard labour for stealing gears from his previous posting. Despite his demotion (and re-promotion, then promotion) and bad reputation, he has many friends, and after several weeks of bargaining his way into the comms room, an old training Iguana arrived on base for him. He insisted that any irregularities in the gear are due to poor habits picked up from students.

Since that gear was lost, he’s been upgraded to a lidded iguana, and as it doesn’t have the same problems, his story checks out.

Sous Caporal Pablo “rookie” Estefan Rookie portrait

Barely 25 cycles old, Pablo was drafted into the MILICIA recently, and assigned to the No Chancers immediately after basic training. It’s not clear what he did to deserve it, but he has a flair for information warfare and computer trickery that has already proved its worth. He piloted a battered ELINT Silverscale, with perpetually loose armour panels until he left it out in the sandstorm. His preferred weapon is a rock to hide behind and stick his target designator out; unfortunately, his Loudmouth Iguana doesn’t have one.

Sous Sergent Alex Jennings

A talented pilot and concientious NCO with a hair trigger temper, previously in the 64th “Desert Rangers”. Seconded to the No Chancers while the Badlands incident where Bandana betrayed them was investigated. Her cadre was killed by one of the opposing forces, and her outpost wiped out by another, while she was trapped in her disabled gear.

Sergent Thomas Barque

A hulking, scarred infantry man who has crosstrained extensively with gears and striders since joining the SIU. He’s a disciplined and capable soldier.

Lest We Forget: Former cadre members

Jayce “The Knight” Stafford

The ONE, the ONLY Knight of Khar Ay Din! Thrill as he crushes all comers in his custom Cheetah! Chill as he dodges deadly gunfire, armed with only a vibrosabre and lance!

A pro duellist from Khar Ay Din; found wandering the desert with a wagon of fuel and looking for a MILICIA recruitment post. He seems to be quite thoroughly and suddenly retired from the KAD duelling scene. After getting accepted into the SIU for his truly exceptional close combat piloting skills and multicultural skills, he went AWOL after one misson.

Lieutenant Jergen Strauss (KIA) (NPC)

The commander of the No Chancers and the regiment’s gear compagnie, he was recently killed in the line of duty. He suffered a nervous breakdown on routine patrol, and single handedly attacked a Port Arthur hovertank patrol.

Sous-lieutenant Rhion Castor (deceased)Castor portrait

Young officer seconded from the Southern Republic Army. He hasn’t demonstrated any particular flaws which could lead to such a poor assignment, but it’s early days.

Killed by unknown parties masquerading as SRID-affiliated commandos in Hsi Tsang. Buried with SRA military honours.

Sous-Caporal Reginald Poussot ‘The Executioner’/’Bandana’ (KIA)Bandana portrait

While it sometimes takes effort to reign him in, his piloting skills are worth it when the time comes to let him off the leash. His unreliable Anolis has been replaced with a Razor Fang Black Mamba of unknown reliability, presumably a reward for his rescue of an SRA colonel held hostage by the SPFI.

His preferred weapons are grenades and artillery strikes, but, frankly, so long as it gets people dead he ain’t picky. He transferred through many posts in the MILICIA for no obvious reason, but was transferred to the 23rd after punching his lieutenant. He wears a bandana constantly. Out of his gear, he’s less capable, but still fast, and surprisingly light on his feet.

Turned out to have been a spy and assassin for the SRID, killing several of SIU Kappa in the middle of a battle, on the orders of his SRID handler – who turned out to be a Northern spy.

Sous-Caporal Jack Johnson ‘Newbie’ (Retired) Newbie portrait

Growing up on the streets in the Eastern Sun Emirates is a poor education. Even in the MILICIA, Newbie’s complete lack of education was exceptional, although he squeezed through basic training. However, he is, unlike many in the regiment, stable, calm and a quick thinker who obeys orders. Lt. Strauss picked him for cross training, and he has went straight to the No Chancers after a crash course in gear piloting, taught by the regimental duellist. He still pilots the battered but functional Jäger Recon he used in training, with the addition of two vibroknives to the armament, and a painted smiley face to the torso. Gear is named either Jenny or Mr. Smiley.

He tries to play the banjo and harmonica, and aspires to form a regimental band.

He finished his tour and left the MILICIA in Autumn TN1934.

He has since been heard on the radio, receiving critical acclaim as the front man for “Newbie and the Band”.

Sergent Avery Cutler (MIA, presumed dead) (no known nickname) (MIA)Cutler portrait

A somewhat moody man, with a touchy sense of honour. He ended up in the No Chancers when he killed his Commandant’s son in a duel. A veteran soldier, his experience has kept the team alive more than once.

He is MIA since the battle in the Badlands where Bandana betrayed the team; a burnt out Spitting Cobra was found surrounded by destroyed Jager Recons several kilometres to the west, and he is now presumed dead.

Sous-Caporal Akito “spanner” Takaya (KIA) Spanner portrait

An excellent technician, with an unfortunate penchant for gambling. He was previously stationed in local garrisons, until a street racing wager backfired, and he crashed his gear into an occupied school bus. Originally equipped with a basic Jager Recon, he managed to collect and repair a damaged Dartjager chassis. He is inordinately proud of ‘DJ’, and uses it as a test bed for improved engine designs. Killed in action by rovers, while displaying surprising bravery.

SIU 2nd Company

Sous-Commandant Wilson McGuire

The No Chancers’s company commander in the SIU. Has long hair, constant stubble, and a heavy Western Frontier Protectorate’s accent. Seems to be more interested in getting the job done than with smaller details. The details of how he ended up in the MILICIA haven’t been revealed.

Sergent Eris Kataka

Commands an assault cadre which has been put at Argyra’s command for specific missions. Small, wiry, and wears a eye patch. Appreciates the direct approach, in combat at least. Pilots a long fang Black Adder, very well, but isn’t up to much on the ground.

Sergents Achmed and Joe Fowler

A sniper/spotter team. Achmed is taciturn and focussed on the one shot that makes his missions succeed. He’s short, but looks like he could bench press his gear. Fowler is a skinny motormouth with a much higher level view of the operation. They pilot a hunting chameleon and lidded iguana respectively. When Argyra’s been given use of them, he’s been asked kindly to return them in one piece.

Important NPCs in the 23rd

Commandant Reilly Haston

The new Regimential commander. So far, all that’s known is that he has a neatly pressed uniform and knows how to salute really well. Formerly of the Legion Noire Auxiliary, picky about protocol.

Adjutant-Chef Aditya Murhaldhar

Haston’s aide-de-camp and the new regimental NCO. Came with Haston from LNA. Has an attitude, and an Emirates accent. Seems to be very hard on the men, coming from a much touger and more elite unit.

Sous-Commandant Julius Freeman (deceased)

The commander of the regiment. Generally drunk, and willing to take whatever decision required the least effort from him. Assassinated by whoever he was involved in corrupt smuggling deals with when the party exposed him.

Adjutant Gwen Jackson (Acting commander; now Retired.)

The regimental NCO, she is extremely laid back. Her duties seem to consist of drinking, playing darts, napping, and, rarely, delivering a briefing in a foul humour. She has since retired. While doing research to determine a suitable leaving present, her past as a designated markswoman was uncovered; a custom-made hunting/sniper rifle was presented at her leaving dinner by Sergent Cutler. (She is now reminisced about as “that drunk you bought a gun for”.) Argyra gave her a Tobin staff, a Humanist survival-pack-and-periscope-in-a-walking-staff.

Major Bruce Fox

Commands the Military Police for the regiment. Harsh and brtual, his men are kept busy. He has been the ‘interim’ commander for 4 cycles, since his predecessor was killed breaking up a drunken brawl.

Sous-Lt Rhodia

An MP from brigade; since he’s commissioned, and Major is a NCO rank in the MILICIA, it’s not clear what the situation is between him and Major Fox. He certainly isn’t Fox’s CO, and doesn’t have the same dislike for the 23rd.

Lieutenant Morgan Willis ((Former) Acting Regimental commander) (deceased)

Commander of the Blaze of Glory Platoon, and the Regimental Duellist. A daring and talented pilot. He regularly takes chances that should have killed him long ago, and have had exactly that effect on many of his men. He tried to steal his gear and go AWOL after a friendly fire incident, and was assassinated while on the way to his court martial.

Lieutenant Marjorie Basie

In charge of the technical support company, she is a brilliant mechanic and scientist. Nobody has any idea how she ended up in this sorry regiment, but they don’t push the point because she can fix or build almost anything given materials. It’s purely thanks to her work that the regiment has any real ECM/ECCM capabilities, rough and ready though her Umbrella Jagers are. She appears to need no sleep at all, and when she does nap it’s in the repair bay.

Caporal Martin Costas

One of the base techs; he has a Humanist accent, but has obviously been away from home a long time.

Sous-caporal Eleanor Willenhal

One of the base techs, a long serving member of the 23rd. From Port Oasis.

Sergent Gillian Molotov

Red headed and irritable, Gillian genuinely wants to see the regiment well
supplied. Her temper works against her in this regard, and she has a mixture of
respect and hatred for Jean-Pierre and his casual disrespect for protocol --
which does get things done. She has never been seen more than 5 feet from a cup
of cawfee. Further exposure to her indicates that her ill temper hides a
interior that is paranoid and obsessive compulsive, although her medication seems to suppress it. When she takes it.

### Caporal William Moran
Constantly over-worked and under-appreciated. He is the base commander's aide, and
one of the few truly conscientious workers in the command staff, let alone the regiment.
Young and naive, he appears to have ended up here through sheer bad luck.

### Lieutenant Richard Cromwell
Chief surgeon of the regimental medical unit. Reads incessantly, and is rarely seen outside
his quarters. He's a competent doctor, but nothing spectacular. Nobody knows him well.

### Sergent Amelia Croix
A candidate for regimental duellist; apparently a good pilot and a well intentioned leader. But nobody ends up in the 23rd without a reason.

### Tizzy
Owner of a large homestead near the Creek. She runs a still and rough bar, with the help of a collection of burly relatives and friends. Relatively young-looking and pretty, but no-nonsense and a good shot with a shotgun.

## SIU Kappa
An SIU special operations team which has used the No Chancers as an auxiliary more than once. The team is no longer around, since most members are dead or MIA.

### Major Reynard / White 1 (KIA)
An SIU team leader, quiet and decisive. Has a slight Mekong accent. Seems to be constantly well informed and capable of making difficult decisions without worry. Killed in action by a rover gang.

### Sergent Miskovitch / White 2 (MIA)
A member of Reynard's team, a slight man with greying hair and a Southern Republic accent... most of the time. Seems to be the people person. Missing since a fight against rovers in the Badlands.

### Sous-sergent O'Hare / White 3 (KIA)
Wears a balaclava even in the jungle. An excellent gear pilot and heavy weapons specialist, the No Chancers know nothing else about him. Killed in action by Bandana.

### Caporal Morgan / White 4
Seems to be a communications specialist on Reynard's team; so far he's always picked up the phone, as it were. He and Major Reynard appear to act as C&C for SIU Kappa when in combat.

### Sous-Adjudant Weiss / Black 1
Another SIU Kappa team member, with a history in police SWAT units. Urban and CQB specialist.

### Sergent Bradley / Black 2 (MIA)
A scout in Reynard's unit, piloting a Chameleon stealth gear. Has an androgynous, low voice with a metallic edge. Also an expert sniper. Has obviously been badly injured in the past; she has old scars and burns, and artificial components in her eye, face, throat and right arm.

### Sous-sergent Chan / Black 3 (KIA)
Another scout and sniper. Killed by rovers.

### Sous-sergent Jordan / Black 4 (KIA)
Another scout. Presumed to be a good gear pilot as he was nominated to take Bandana's gear in a raid on an SPFI training camp, but decided the Anolis was too dangerous. History in SIU counter terrorist ops; excellent at urban and CQB fighting.

## Saragossa & Nearby

### Joe Wallace
MILICIA veteran, crazy old guy in shack, and SPFI sympathiser. Helped the SPFI find and use a dumping spot for storing stolen weapons. The cadre apprehended and interrogated him, and only nearly let him outwit and escape them. Well, they recaptured him when he did. Eventually.

## Hsi Tsang

### Mr & Mrs Takaya.
Spanner's parents -- they run a home security equipment installation and repair company, after closing their gear repair business.

### Chris Yung (deceased)
Masqueraded as an SRID contact to dupe the players into retrieving a stolen briefcase from a Yakuza boss. Killed by Banadana and Cutler simultaneously.

### Chris Takaya (possibly deceased)
Yakuza boss who stole briefcase from Yung/Freeman. Last seen fighting running gun battle shortly before a burning helicopter fell on the area.

### 'J'
Female voice on the end of Chris Yung's phone, apparently a superior.

### Juliette d'Etienne (deceased)
A slaver and general trader in illegal goods, captured by the No Chancers, then assassinated before she could talk.

## Brigade HQ

### Sergent Mirosa
A proper and alert NCO, with a well-concealed and proper disregard for commissioned officers and their quirks.

## Bethany

### Olivia Mifune
'AST Military Public Relations advisor', or, SRID propoganda enforcer for the Untitled Hsi Tsang Action Movie Project movie version of the cadre's adventures. Uninjured in the bomb blast that killed so many of the crew. The cadre helped her escape (exactly who from it's not clear), and she was picked up while suffering from a severe dose of alleged Terranovan inlfluenza. Current health and whereabouts unknown.

### Melissa O'Driscoll
Director's gopher on movie set. Currently in bandages in ICU of Bethany General Medical. Newbie took to entertaining her with banjo serenades.

### Jefferson Freud -- Senior Detective, Bethany PD
Detective in charge of the investigation into the Bethany train station bomb.

## Badlands, Cromwell Township

### Marshall Constans Abramovich
Marshall of Cromwell. Can pilot a gear, and has what sounds like a slight Earth accent, according to Cutler.

### Mayor James O'Hara
Mayor of Cromwell.

### Mr. Coldwell
A Badlander with Northern sympathies, who tried to convince the township to sign up as a Northern Protectorate. Also a Revisionist preacher.

### Belinda Lee
Pilot and technician working out of Cromwell.

### Jefferson Lee
Belinda Lee's son. Wants to sign up to the MILICIA; hero-worshipped Bandana until Argyra and his mother talked him out of it. He later signed up and was encountered again with the MILICIA's 31st regiment, the Devilfish.

## Northern dawgs

### Captain Smith Hamilton
CO of the Northern Guard 13th GP Gear Company, 512th Gear Regiment, "The Growling Cougars".

### Senior Ranger Alyssa McGuire
Senior NCO of the above. Grey, weathered veteran; seems to have at least slightly known Cutler's father during the War of the Alliance.

### Ranger William Hofstadter
The regimental duellist for the 512th.

## Criminals and no-good-niks of unknown or no fixed abode

### Sous-Lt. Mitch William (retired)
A Duellist in the Badlands and Khar Ay Din. Served with Willis.

### Sergent Gabriella Lucenzo (AWOL)
Former MILICIA mechanic, served with Willis. Now a procurer and seller of grey and black market gears, especially catering for duellists across the Badlands.

## Other

### Xavier Cutler, SRA Colonel
Avery's uncle. Also kidnapped, with his wife and two daughters, by the SPFI, and rescued by Bandana and Newbie.

### Alain Croche-Tiqluer, ASI Special Agent
Tall, thin, and with a pronounced Republican accent, Croche-Tiqluer is an undercover ASI agent last encountered in Okavanga shortly before it rebelled.

### Commandant Julianna Cos
New CO of the MILICIA base near Hsi Tsang. Seems to be clean, unlike her predecessor, and intent on cleaning up the regiment.
